Notes

This page is about learning how to play notes.  Notes are the very basics of reading written music.  After learning notes, you learn scales, after learning scales, you learn exercises.  At that point, you can play songs.

Note: D

Note - D5

Note - D5 natural

The numbers show where to place your fingers on the whistle. Dark circles mean you need to place your fingers on top of the hole, Light circles mean you need to keep your finger off the hole.  A “/” means that only part of the hole is covered.  In this case, you start out with half of the hole covered and slightly change how much of the hole is covered so the note sounds good with the other notes around it.

**All fingerings are for the most common whistles, whistles made in the Key of D**

Left Hand
1 top hole – index finger
2 middle finger

Right Hand
